The Adversity Systems

Some might say I’ve beaten the odds, the cat with eleven lives. Yes, sure, I’ve had some close calls. But it can’t be all luck?? There has to be a system and methodology behind all the wins?? An overcoming adversity formula if you will?? So… for this reason, I’ve put together a number of online courses which cover as much of this adversity system as possible. Each course feeds off the next, you could even look at each course as parts of the puzzle. And once you’re put them all together, hopefully your new success path awaits.

  • Creative Living

  • Resilience

  • Self-Love

  • Hope (in a better day)

  • Companionship (could be support groups)

  • Big Dreams and Projects

  • Education

  • Hobbies (without doubt I'd recommend writing here)

  • SMART Goals

  • Reach Out, Ask For Help - Life is a collaboration

Our Mission

The aim is to provide all the resources that I wish I’d had.

It’s funny how life turns out. As a rather bizarre twist of fate, I’ve become the person that I was always looking for. I am the rock. I am the adversity encyclopaedia. And as such, the way I’m approaching this, I want to give that scared naïve twenty three year old boy (that I once was) everything that he needed. A crash course in becoming bullet proof, well so to speak.

And the biggest beneficiary of this… it’s you!

Here is a library of adversity resources that you'll be able to adapt in overcoming your struggles, or even to help you live your best life.

Finding purpose beyond your pain.

Meet Your Instructor

Mark Miljons-Rostoks

For all things a day-dreamer, a larrikin and an undeniable fighter, Mark is a writer at heart first and foremost with his eyes on a career as an advertising copywriter. A published author, an advice columnist, he’s even still studying marketing and creative writing at university. On a more personal note, Mark advocates for both adversity and chronic illness; which this has stemmed from his own battles with quadriplegia. That’s right, he literally can’t move a muscle, and he also has the added bonus of having a tracheostomy tube and is 24/7 ventilator dependant as well. Nevertheless, Mark’s still a certified life coach, a marketing consultant, a very active blogger, and when well enough, he’s also ticking off his bucket list. Then, as something he says he should do way more often, he also volunteers with the Starlight Children’s Foundation. Yep, this day-dreamer gets around a bit. He’s kissed Miranda Kerr, appeared on the television soap opera Neighbours, cooked intimately with a MasterChef host, and even been pushed in a marathon in his wheelchair (with sixteen people rotating pushing). And if that’s not enough, he’s a sneaker collector (eek, 100+ pairs). His dream is to one day get better and ride a bicycle around Australia, So… as you can see, he never lets my disability stop him doing things, or achieving things.

Adversity Can Be Lonely. I Used Writing As My Shoulder To Lean On. It Was Always There. It Never Failed Me.

  • Find Your Voice

One way you can use writing is as a healing tool. Then, another is to straight-up document your journey, then another is to let people know how you're feeling. A creative outlet, a tool to communicate with others; no wonder I often find myself saying that writing is life. What does amaze me about this special writer’s voice thing though, I believe that many, many people are underutilising this simple gift. Too many people are focused on consumption, maybe even on crafting fleeting fast-fashion type content, not a hearty meal. And honestly, this is what a short-time writing every now and then practice can create – additional substance and fulfilment.

  • Your New Skill-Sets

What I used to always look for someone who could guide me through steps and a system. Maybe someone to even make a connection with. But this couldn’t be just anyone, the last thing I needed was someone sipping pina coladas by their swimming pool telling me about hard times. What I needed was to hear from somebody who was deep in the trenches – and still doing okay. I needed authenticity, relatability, empathy and hands-on experience. Adversity is too important to mess around with, like the mental scars can easily become prolonged.

  • Running Your Race

For me, overcoming adversity has been like putting together one big jigsaw puzzle. This is what I don’t want for you. Instead, what I want and what I’m doing through the Decent Education platform, I’m creating a one-stop-shop for all your adversity and writing needs. I want to provide the resources that I never had. And, the tools at the core of this platform, these will centre around online courses that cover key adversity and writing topics. Oh, of course I’ll have some other stuff going on as well.
